Use:
It is used to treat GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), Peptic ulcer disease (Pulmonary Ulcer Disease), and Zollinger’s-Ellison Syndrome, which is caused by an excessive production of stomach acid. It decreases the amount of acid in the stomach and relieves symptoms and encourages healing.
Indication:
It may also be used for the prevention of stomach ulcers due to certain medications, including NSAIDs. Use as prescribed. The dose may vary depending on the condition being treated, but it will usually be the lowest dose that is used for the shortest amount of time necessary to treat the condition. It should be taken on empty stomach, usually in the morning, or at least an hour before eating. If symptoms go away, continue taking the medicine until the doctor says it’s okay to stop taking it. If the medicine is used for an extended period of time, the doctor may perform regular blood tests to check magnesium levels, which can drop with this medication.
Side Effects:
The most common side effects are headaches, constipation, or diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and nausea or vomiting. These side effects are usually mild, but it is important to consult your doctor if you experience them or they persist. The longer you use this medicine, the more likely you are to experience side effects. If you use it for an extended period of time, you may be at risk of developing a broken bone. Avoid foods that appear to worsen symptoms, such as high-fat, high-spice, and high-sugar foods. Limit your intake of caffeinated beverages, such as teas, coffees, cola, and alcohol.
