Use:
It is one of the most commonly prescribed medicines used to treat pain and fever in children. It is used to treat conditions such as headaches, tooth pain, body aches, fever and the common cold.
Indication:
This medicine should be administered orally at a set time each day. It can be taken either before or after a meal, but it is best taken after a meal as it irritates the stomach lining. The dosage and duration of administration will depend on your child’s age, weight, and the severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, timing, and method prescribed by your child’s doctor. If vomiting occurs within 30 minutes after taking the medicine, allow the child to cool down and repeat the dose. If vomiting persists for more than 30 minutes, redosing is not recommended.
Do not give paracetamol to your child at the same time as other medicines (such as many cold and flu medicines or other painkillers) as this could lead to an overdose and dangerous side effects (such as liver damage). Always double check the ingredients of all other medicines before using them with paracetamol.
Side Effects:
This medicine is generally well tolerated by children. However, some children may experience temporary side effects like digestive issues, nausea, or vomiting. Talk to your doctor if these symptoms become an issue for your child.
Safety Advice:
This medicine is generally considered safe and effective, but it may not work for everyone. Make sure to tell your child’s doctor if they are receiving treatment for any blood disorders, are allergic to any medicine, have any birth defects, have liver impairment, or have kidney dysfunction. This information will help your child’s doctor determine the right dose and dosage for them.
